Numerous events suggested
to planning committee
Spring appears
to have arrived in
Winthrop with sun-
ny days and warmer temperatures.
However cooler temperatures are pre-
dicted for a few days._
Another sign is farmers in the fields.
One John Deere tractor goes by sever-
al times a day with a manure spreader
going full and returning empty.
We saw one farmer planting in a
field south of Cromarty. We have also
seen last year's corn crop being har-
vested.
Rev. John's sermon at Cavan Unit-
ed Church was titled "Where Are the
Clowns?" Due to the nice weather, cof-
fee has been postponed - it is nice to
chat outside.
A Planning Committee meeting was
held recently at the church. A Session
meeting is planned for May 5 at 7:30
limp
p.m. Other events
suggested were A
Murder Mystery and
pot luck, a presentation by the youth,
yard sale, a mystery fall colour tour, a
camping weekend at Saugeen Bluffs
and a trip to a horse race at Hanover.
Our Outdoor Church service is sched-
uled for June 28.
Lynne and Ron Godkin and family
were at Don and Maja Dodds' home on
Easter Sunday.
Ken and Betty Glanville travelled
to Geneva, Ohio on Easter Sunday to
help a family friend celebrate his 70th
birthday.
-Vicki Campbell and friends spent
the weekend in Pontiac, Michigan.

The plant and

on May 9 at Northside
United Church. This year we are
planning to have a couple of tables
and chairs and serve coffee and muf-
fins or squares, which will be looked
after by Ruth Smith.
Heather McLean spoke about the
bus trip on July 15. We will be visit-
ing Smith & Wilson Estate Wines and
Sherry's Perennial Gardens, both in
Blenheim: We will visit a private
garden in ' Chatham and Highline
Mushrooms in Leamington. Lunch
and Supper are included.
The cost is $75 for members or $83
which includes the membership fee.
Four door prices were given, and
the meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
