E-vaste depot collects 3i*COOpunth'
Vehicles line up down
the street to bring
three times more
e -waste than last year
.. With vehicles lined up down the street before
8 a.m., this year's e -waste depot behind the
Seaforth town hall on Easter weekend collected
31,000 pounds of recyclable electronic equip-
ment.
"It was quite a sight - just like a Tim Horton's
but no coffee," said Huron East Deputy -Clerk
Brad Knight.
He said the total collected was three times
more than last year.
Because televisions were collected for recy-
cling for the first time this year, Knight said
there were a lot of TVs dropped off.
"People must have been saving them for years
and digging them out of their base-
ments this year," he said.
Stratford E -Waste, a division of
Greentech, sent five employees to
help unload cars and load up a large
transport truck with the e -waste
dropped off in Seaforth.
"They were impressed by how well;
organized we were and by the num-
bers who took advantage of the de-
pot," said Knight.
He said_ that Seaforth and area
resider is are getting used to the op-
portunity to get rid of their e -waste
responsibly and look forward to the
once -a -year depot at Easter.
"People were asking us shortly af-
ter Christmas if we were going to
have the e -waste depot again this
year. They've been preparing for
months," he said.
