it wasn't enoughto keep -gene
ous citizens from donating to the
cause.
The campaign for. the Seaforth

The campaign gained further
public : interest after Seaforth
Bakery owner Christine Behnke
challenged Delchiaro to a $25
bet, • claiming that a pickup
truck parked in front of the bak-
ery could collect more donations
than the van at Foodland.
Donations -started pouring in
to both locations on April 2 and
the vehicles began filling up
with boxes of canned food.
Seaforth Food Bank chair
Maureen Spittal says the value
of the food collected from the
van parked at Foodland almost
reached $5,000.
"It went really well," Spittal
says. "This town really did come
together."
The truck was nearly full with
donations and Spittal says while
it will definitely help many hun-
gry families, she doesn't expect
it to last long...K.:::
"People would be amazed at
how quickly we'll go through
this," she says.
