They entered their third game against Guelph with a renewed sense of determination. The bronze medal was at stake, and leading scorer 'er Jan maat again netted a pair of goals, : as did Jansen, Glanville and Amanda Duff. It was more than enough to defeat Guelph With a final score of 5-1 for Seaforth ' ,:5;, iVi. . f . tot YZ` D ti Schwab_ The Seaforth-Winthrop Minor Base- ball Association is looking to the community for sponsorships to outfit every player in the league with a uni- form this season. Steve Kropf, president of the Sea - forth -Winthrop Minor Baseball Asso- ciation, says the new seven -member association doesn't expect registration dollars to cover' the cost of providing every player from T -Ball to Midget with his or her own uniform. They ended up facing London in the bronze medal match. Describingit as a "real nail biter," a team spokesperson said, "It was an amazing team effort with five differ- ent goal scorers." The Petites would hold off London's. offensive drives in the final • period to earn the win and. the bronze medal with a final score of 54. r4 r The victory is one of many successes the teagi has achieved this season, ‘in- cluding Winning the gold medal at a tournament in Niagara Falls, another gold in - `a: Goderich tournament and silver in Exeter. Seaforth's Novice and Junior teams alsowon bronze medals at the tourna- - ment. • f-. ♦jj�� ♦7 all Associatlon needs uniforms for play he says. "Uniforms have a high cost so many teams are in need and we can't outfit every one of them." Kropf says much of the association's equipment. .is- also outdated and in need of replacing, some of it being up to 20 years old. "Registration dollars will help with that but we're looking for other dona- tions to help out with the teams and bring baseball back to where it should be" he says. "The association is hop- ing to be able to provide a great expe- rience for the kids this year." Kropf says there are no immediate i plans for an association fundraiser. March 31 marked the last of three registration dates to join the league, which attracted 108 players ages five to19. The number would make up 11 teams from T -Ball toMidget. There is still room for about 10 players in T - Bali, for ages five and six; in pre -mite, for ages seven and eight; and in Ban- tam, for ages 15 and 16. The association is holding a meeting this week in Brussels to assign coach- es to teams and to- determine which out-of-town teams Seaforth and Win- throp squads will be facing this sea- son.
