David Lew, Emergency Medical
Services manager, reports the ambu-
lance stationed at Seaforth Commu-
nity Hospital has switched its hours
on standby to better accommodate
the facility.
"The car has been moved to later
in the evening to improve coverage,"
says, Lew.
Lew also reports a recent mass
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
training session, which was held in
Exeter in February, drew a great
deal of interest. He says that such
events could result in the entire
county's population being trained on
CPR within five years.
"That's a great thing, I think, for
our citizens in Huron County," he
says.
As well, he says the county's Prism
911 system is closer to completion.
The emergency call -out system,
which will automatically dial affect-
ed residents in the event of an emer-
gency, is anticipated to cost $35,000.
Lew says the system will be effec-
tive for a number of uses, including
allowing municipalities to residents
when boil -water advisories .are in
place. He notes the OPP have also
expressed interest in utilizing it.
"I think we're going to get a full
money's worth, probably on an an-
nual basis."
The county's Emergency Medical
Services department will be investi-
gating ither spots to place defibrilla-
tors, like county Legion branches, as
the behest of councillors.
As it stands, emergency defibrilla-
tors, used to resuscitate those suffer-
ing from a heart attack, are installed
at arenas throughout the county.
