DC approves four loans after federal
Dan Schwab
The Huron Business Development
Corporation approved four loans for
local businesses during their March
19 meeting, after receiving word the
federal government would be making
two separate funding investments of
$300,000 each to the agency.
HBDC manager Paul Nichol called
the money provided for loans "criti-
cal" and said that while the HBDC
cannot . yet announce which busi-
nesses were approved for loans last
week, .he did say they were for three
existing businesses and one new one,
and funding was included for a busi-
ness in Seaforth.
The announcement for the $300,000
to fund HBDC operating costs was
made by Huron -Bruce MP Ben Lobb,
who praised the HBDC for it's "long
list of success stories."
"They provide a grassroots source of
funding for people in Huron County
to develop businesses, make loans to
businesses and provide and critique
business plans so that people can not
only start a business but start it on
the right foot," he said, during the
HBDC meeting last week.
The investment is through Fed-
Nor's Community Future's program,
which provides funding to 61 agen-
cies across Ontario.
"We are very excited about the
positive impact this funding will
have on our ability to support local
entrepreneurs in achieving their
business goals,"
