Mardi Gras was cel-
ebrated at Queensway
Nursing and Retire-
ment Residence on Thurs-
day with a delicious Mardi Gras meal
of Chicken Gumbo served for supper.
The Retirement Home residents
dressed for the occasion with feath-
ered masks and sparkling hats with
some wearing glittering necklaces
and beads.
The Nursing Home residents en-
joyed an informative Mardi Gras
session learning about the history of
Mardi Gras had how it is celebrated
in various countries.
The day ended with The Goldies
entertaining at. the monthly Birth-
day Party and residents attending
wearing their Mardi Gras finery. The
Goldies' lively upbeat music drew
quite a crowd to the dance floor. Pos-
sibly the masks caused a few to lose
their inhibitions, just like the Mardi
Gras celebrations and parades that
New Orleans is known for.
Fun & Fitness with Mandl started
the week for residents on Monday
with a good workout session followed
by games and some quizzes from the
Mensa Quiz book. •
In the afternoon the Ki pen United
Church women provided assistance
and prizes for the bingo games. Lori

The Shrove
Tuesday pancakes
were on the menu

Rev. Paul Ross of Exeter United

ing those requiring her services.
Wednesday, euchre players gath-
ered for some friendly competition
to while away the afternoon and it is
surprising how quickly time passes
when residents are enjoying this pas-

In the evening Rev. Marybeth Wil-
son presided over the Memorial Ser-
vice that honoured those residents
who have passed away in - .recent
months. Francis Kinsman played
piano and residents and staff shared
