Healthcare
Partners,
Seaforth
trust plan
healthcare
meeting
Susan Hundertmark
4111111MINEW
With more than a dozen organi-
zations involved in healthcare in
Seaforth - a number with overlap-
ping members - the Huron East
Healthcare Partners committee
agreed last week that an informa-
tion meeting to clear up questions
about the various groups is need-
ed.
Maureen Agar, a represenative
of the Seaforth Community Devel-
opment Trust, told the Healthcare
Partners committee on Feb. 25 that
she's received 25 phone calls since
the Seaforth hospital emergency
department began closing over-
night due to a shortage of nurses.
"They're all trying to understand
each organization and who is on
it," she said.
Agar proposed a community
healthcare information meeting for
April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Seaforth
arena where a colour-coded chart
would be used to educate the pub-
lic about the various groups and
their relationship to each other.
She's asking for each organiza-
tion to list their members, their
chairs, where and when meetings
are held and whether or not they're
open to the public.
"For example, the mayor didn't
know how -to get on the hospi-
tal foundation board. It's time for
people to understand the different
groups and what their different
mandates are," she said.
"It's frustrating for many pedple.
The donut shop information is
amazing," said Agar.
She said one example of misin-
formation is one call she received
from a woman who was upset her
tax dollars went towards -a new
family health team building when
