Fresh baked bread and a bread -baking session will be
part of Northside United Church's Ash Wednesday service
this year:
¶bnight's (Feb. 25) service at 7:30 p.m. will include a
drama during which Isabelle Hunt makes bread and fresh
bread is used for communion.
Ash Wednesday has its roots as far back as the year 960
in the Romano Germanic pontifical and it shows up in his-
tory in many different ways. It has evolved from sprinkling
ashes on people to the making the sign of the cross onthe
forehead. It follows Shrove Tuesday, the last day of the
season of Epiphany before the season of Lent.
The community is invited to join the service.
