Bowl For Kids Sake coming to Starlight Lanes

Last year, they wore eye patches,
bandanas and there was even a plas-
tic parrot involved.
This time, they're going medieval.
During the third annual Bowl for
Kids Sake event to be held at Star-
light Lanes, bowlers will be asked
to get into the spirit by donning
costumes in the style of the middle
ages.
The event, taking place March 27
from 7-9:30 p.m., is a major fund-
raiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of

North Huron.
Last year, Bowl For Kids Sake
raised $18,500 in the North Huron
service area.
In Seaforth, 33 bowlers on eight
teams raised $2,590 through collect-
ing pledges.
Starlight Lanes co-owner Yvette
Wilbur says when Big Brothers Big
Sisters of North Huron asked if the
six -lane bowling alley would host the
event again, it was an easy decision
to make.
"Since it went over ` so well last

Bowlers who raise the most money
for the charity will be awarded priz-
es at the event.
Big . Brothers Big Sisters of North
Huron have a goal this year of rais-
ing $20,000 through three Bowl for
Kids Sake events next month.
The two other events are taking
place in Goderich and Lucknow.
All funds raised through the events
will remain in the community to sup-
port the delivery of youth mentoring
services.
Elaine Osborne, executive director
for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North
Huron, says there is a real need for
child and youth mentoring in Huron
County.
There are currently about -23 chil-
dren ages six to 16 on the agency's
waiting list for a big brother or sis-
ter, including seven in .Seaforth.
Some are expected to wait as lc ;l g as
two years.
For big brothers and sisters, the
initial obligation is four hours per
week, engaging in activities from
skating to baking to going to the
movies.
