Although a date and location has yet to be determined, Jose Menendez, special, projects consultant for CASA, says the public meeting will be held somewhere within the community. An environmental assessment is currently ' being conducted for two sites -- north of St. Columban and northeast of Seaforth, between Sum- merhill Road, Manley Line, Highway 8 and Maple Line. The environmental assessment is studying any potential effects the wind turbines would have on bird migration, whether noise will affect nearby residents and other issues. Menendez says it's unclear so ' far as to how long the assessment may take. "We've had an anemom- eter down there to mea- sure wind for three years," he says. "There are fa- vourable wind resources there." He says for the purposes of the environmental as- sessment, it's assumed turbines will be approxi- mately 95 metres high from grade to rotar, plus another 45 metres for the length of the blades. Each project will have five megawatt turbines with a power generation output of 10 megawatts at each site. He adds that feedback from the community dur- ing the upcoming public meeting will be consid- ered in the planning of the projects, but says, "wheth- er (construction) will hap- pen in six months or in six years, we don't know." 3 DAYS • NLY Friday, Jan. 76,10 Saturday, Jan. 17, 9 - Sunday,Iw 18,12-4 Jan. He added that something needs to be done to solve the problem created by the catch basin. "It's not a proper catch basin. St's a wannabe catch basin. The water just flies over the top of it," he. said. Tuckersmith Coun. Larry McGrath said the problem started when a new subdivision was built behind the Main Street houses and called it a. "maintenance issue." He suggested that the homeowners would be the best ones to call the town and ask for the ditch to be cleaned whenever weather systems are coming that could cause flood- ing.
