to keep from going into hibernation
mode as the days get colder.
Instead of put-

ment into storage,
King recommends

"It doe's depend
on where you live,"
she says. "But a
skipping rope, for
example, or one of
those mini tram-
polines. They're
both very good ex-
ercise."

active, King says, something as simple
as turning off the TV or computer goes
a long way.
"One thing we suggest is not turning
on the screen. And the suggestion for
that is, turn on the radio. Put on a. CD
and dance."
However, King also says that for 4dults
who have a fairly_sedentary work life,
TV can be used as a tool for exercise at
the end of the day.
"There are yoga and aerobics pro-
grams on during the day. So you could
pre -tape a program and do that in the
evening."
King also points out that often, with
the proper attire, there is no reason
not to continue to get exercise by going
outside.
"Simply go outside," she says. "Play
Fox and Goose, make snow angels,
forts, and snowmen... We've got some
fresh air here in
the wintertime

so let's go out and
enjoy it."
.The benefits of
having an active
lifestyle are nu-
merous, but King
says many Huron County residents
.1re missing out on these.
"We (Huron County) have the high-
est obesity rates in the province. Phys-
ical activity is a, prescription for good
health."
One of these benefits is greater com-
munication between family members,
says King.
"I think it's good family time. Par-
ents that are having difficulty com-
municating with children, regardless
of the age, if you're playing ping pong
or whatever, you might be surprised
at how good the communication can
be when you're just not focused en the
actual communication and you're talk-
ing."
King says for the most . part, there is
really no mystery behind enjoying good
health. "What we eat and what we do
creates the body that we've got."
