RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign as "pretty positive." In total, over 28,000 vehicles were checked in Huron County RIDE checkpoints, includ- ing the dozen checkpoints set up from New Year's Eve through the weekend. In total, nine impaired drivers were charged in Huron County and another 20 had their licences suspended for 12 hours due to their level of alcohol consumption. Huron OPP investigated 12 collisions in- volving personal injury and another 141 where only property was damaged. Police saw numerous collisions in the first four days of 2009 in Huron County but none involved any life threatening injuries or fa- talities. Huron OPP Detachment Commander Dan Grant reminds motorists that winter is far from over and road condi- tions will continue to pose -challenges for many more weeks. He urges motorists to remember that con- ditions in this county change very rapidly and drivers need to remain fully focussed on the task of driving. Across Ontario, 845,915 vehicles were checked during the OPP festive RIDE campaign. A total of 296 impaired drivers were charged. Over the 2007/08 festive RIDE cam- paign, a total of 861,587 vehicles were checked, with 342 drivers charged.
