The annual Christmas tree light- ing in Hensall took on a different flavour this year. Instead of a Christmas tree, we lit a large wreath with 300 mini -lights on it. This activity was arranged by the volunteer firefighters in Hensall, and the H e n s a 1 1 Community Action Development Committee. It was very well attended with the largest crowd in three years. Songs were sung and a good time was had by all. On Dec. 11, the Hensall Fire Department held a very successful food drive in the village, collecting non-perishable food items for the food bank. By Liz Sangster Singing carols decorations draw crowds Christmas Eve From Page 11 "The singing is good. Choirs usu- ally practise quite a bit more. They're usually quite beautiful cele- brations that people put a lot of work into." Hildebrand from Egmondville United agrees. "It is a wonderful feeling from behind the pulpit when the church is overflowing on Christmas Eve and everybody is giving 100 per cent to the singing, he says. "It is really quite an emotional time, I think, for a lot of ministers." Bethel Bible Church's Pastor Mark Kennedy's favourite part of it all is, "the focussed intent on cele- bration, just prior to the busy activ- ities of the next day." Rev. Robert Hutchison is serving on an interim basis for the Anglican Parish of the Holy Spirit in Clinton, Seaforth and Mitchell. "It's exciting," he says of the higher numbers. "It's gratifying. It lets one know that our spiritu- ality is still alive." ake Your Own Beer, Wine, , Fruit Wine Ferment hem a at home! re :1 u1,1 cI 0 1 1 1 Stratford Cinemas :551 Huron St. 273-6780 1 • Show Schedule for December 21- 23 1 Am Legend tUp Ily M 100 i 9:15 pm, Sat/Sun madam it 2 pm ■ National Treasure: Book of Secrets II/0/y M 6:45 & 9:15 pm, Sal/Sun matinee M 2 pm PG Alvin & The Chipmunks *ply M1:00 $ 9:15 pm, SMJSun matinee M 2 pm 0 P.S. 1 Love You IepMly M 6:45 6 9:15 pm, SMISun matinee M 2 pm The Golden Compass NpMiy M 700 i 9:15 pm, SM/Sun maims M 2 pm Cfowd Wcwrlber 24th 1 25Eh1 56.00 Tuesdays www.stratfordcinemas.com 1 1 1
