Thanks to a recent Ontario Trillium Foundation announcement, the Rural Response for Healthy Children organization is offering a program dedicated to fathers in need of a helping hand. Over the next two years, the $67,800 grant will be used to sup- port the development, implementa- tion and evaluation of a Rural Father Involvement pilot project. The program will be offered to individuals who are experiencing isolation, low-income, mental and physical health issues and/or family crisis and seek to give them the skills and tools necessary as they parent during challenging times. "This will benefit our community, our families and most importantly, our children," said Lauren Rooyakkers, president of Rural Response for Healthy Children. She said that the hiring of male parent support/education worker will enhance the group's ability to connect with fathers and male care- givers who are in need of support, advice and education. Located in Clinton, the organiza- tion works in cooperation with_more than 35 groups to reach out to at - risk families and enable them to access effectively existing communi- ty services to manage their lives. "Children are our future, but also the most vulnerable part of our community," said Huron -Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell, who was on hand at Edwards Fuels Friday morning, for the announcement. "This new pro- gram, which aims to help fathers with their parenting skills, will focus on a part of our community that has been neglect- ed." She added that the project will ask "what role does the father have and what can we do to enhance that?" \\ECeadf FARM EQUIPMENT SEAFORTH 519-527-0120 EXETER 519-235.2121 www.teamvIncOnt.com F CASE lir TRIPLE V EAVESTROUGH HENRY MEINEN TEL: 519-348-0844 CELL. 519-301-5784 5" & 6" SEAMLESS EAVESTROUGH WINDOWS & DOORS SOFFIT & FASCIA Zit • Drywall • Taping • Plaster Repair • Renovations Brian Gowan Renovations 519-273-8031 519-854-5254 view our work at www arboursarden.ca Renovating? This gives the home a more compact footprint, although it still measures 97 feet wide. The kitchen is separated from the great room by a curved raised eating bar attached to a prep island with a cooktop. The L-shaped counter con- figuration will save the cook steps, and he or she will be grateful for the roomy walk-in pantry and the win- dow over the kitchen sink. A U-shaped stairway leads down to the basement, left unfinished in the plans. Exterior finishes include decorative garage doors, painted trim, mul- lioned windows and stone and wrought iron accents. This splendid home measures 97 feet wide and 77 feet deep, for a total of 2,266 square feet of living space.
