The new principal says she received a warm welcome at SPS, a school she says is known for hugs from students. "Students are proud of Seaforth Public School and state it is the best school ever. What a wonderful mes- sage to hear from our students," -she says. And, she says that arriving in November just before report card time was a good way to learn quick- ly about the school. "By stressing the virtues program and anti -bullying techniques, we're teaching students how to solve problems and giving them a comfort level to be able to report when bul- lying happens," she says. Peach says she's also excited by the school's Peace Garden, which goes hand in hand with goals of energy reduction and implementing the three Rs of reduce, reuse and recycle. "This is an area of passion for me," she says. She says at her last school in Wingham, the school focussed on waste audits of what was going into blue boxes and what might be- going into the garbage that could have been recycled. "We moved from three boxes of recyclables to three cartloads. We think we do recycling but what real- ly does go into the blue box?" she says, adding she hopes to eventually do the same thing at SPS.
