Northside United Church will be
commemmorating the 130th
anniversary of its church building
by selling pewter ornaments of the
church.
Because the church council decid-
ed to get a new sketch of the build-
ing to acknowledge recent changes
to the structure, including the new
Millenium Wing that made the
building wheelchair accessible, the
sketch led to the idea for an orna-
ment.
"Once we saw the sketch, we got
the idea from the
other historic
buildings, like
the Seaforth

town hall, that have been made into
ornaments," says organizer Susan
Campbell.
Campbell says she's hoping that
not only congregation members will
be interested in collecting the orna-
ment, but also history and architec-
ture buffs.
The ornament shows a three
dimensional view of the church with
the front and one side showing.
She says there is room to engrave
a family milestone on the back of
the ornament, like a wedding or
baptism.
As well, she hopes to sell the orna-
ments during the annual Doors
Open event, when tourists visit
Seaforth to tour its historic build-
ings.
"We've had a lot of people through
the church dur-
ing Doors Open
who were really
interested in the
architecture," she
says.
Northside has
had 200 orna-
ments made and
will sell: them for
$20 apiece.
They - are
available through
Northside
Church members,
Blooms `N Rooms
and Nifty
Korners.
