This was the subject of an address
by Dr. Bennett, President 9f the St.
Thomas Horticultural Society, in the
Town Hail, on Wednesday night of last
week. The address. was illustrated
with beautifully colored slides, showing
the many varieties just as they are.

morning; fire broke out :in the bakery
of E. J. Brown & Co.. The fire start-
ed from the heating stove, igniting the
Prover which was standing near by,
the flames shooting up the prover and
catchin,a in the ceiling. Owing to the
dryness of the bake shop, and the heavy
drauight on the stove it was impos-
sible for the baker, who was in the
shop at the time, to help in any way
to put the fire out, and he had barely
titre to ,escape before the whole in-
terior was in flames;.
