Wanda Abbott, formerly of Clinton, is facing a non-custodial sentence of six months, followed by one year probation. She was charged with eight counts of mak- ing a forged document and one count of fraud over $5,000. The activity began in April of 2004 and continued through to March 2007 - during Abbott's tenure as treasurer — resulting in a loss of more than $32,000 for the Lakers. She has since reimbursed the organization, as ordered by the court. In an official statement posted on the Lakers web site, members of the executive said the police inves- tigation and court proceedings would not affect the 2007-08 sea- son. The Lakers are a member of Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario and participate in the 'AAA' Pavillion League's east division. Home games are played in Goderich, Clinton, Brussels and Stratford.
