Shakespeare to Shoreline nominated for award
The Shakespeare to the Shoreline
travel program, which has been
bringing tourists through Seaforth
and the rest of Huron County since
2004, was nominated as one of the
top three regional marketing part-
nerships by the Ontario Tourism
Summit.
While the category was won by
VIA Rail's package taking tourists
from the Greater Toronto Area
(GTA) into the Niagara Region for
the casino and a winery,
Shakespeare to the Shoreline coor-
dinator Laurel Armstrong says the
nomination was an honour.
"To think our regional program
was judged against that competition
is what we're so pleased about. It
acknowledges that we're on the
right track," she says.
The nomination was announced in
Ottawa the weekend of Oct. 3-5.
The award category applies to any
partnership combining tourism sup-
pliers including media, sponsors,
cities, regions and Destination
Marketing Organizations, that fea-
ture Ontario tourism expriences
with partners such as accommoda-
tions, restaurants, retailers, region-
al specialties such as foods and
travel experiences.
The awards celebrate marketing
excellence and innovation in the
tourism industry, and recognize
organizations who have successfully
promoted Ontario as a must -see
destination.

travel program was developed and
is supported by tourism representa-
tives from Perth and Huron
Counties, Stratford, Goderich, St.
Marys and Huron East and was
acknowledged as a winning market-
ing partnership by the Ontario
Tourism Marketing Partnership
Corporation, a branch of the
Ontario Ministry of Tourism and
Recreation.
"Our mutual goal is to bring visi-
tors to our area and intrigue them
to stay longer, travelling the historic
Highway 8 and exploring the areas
of Perth and Huron Counties and
the charming communities," says
Armstrong.
"This program is also a great
opportunity for our residents to

taste and linger' in our area" she
says.
The strategic partnership is also
supported by the municipalities of
Central Huron, Bluewater and the
Huron Tourism Association, along
with Perth Community Futures
Corporation and the Huron
Business Development Centre.
The Shakespeare to the Shoreline
program offers self -guided tours
with themes that appeal to visitors
and residents and includes special

Trek as well as dining and accom-
modation selections.
