Samuel Hays Dorrance - was born on November 7, 1887 in McKillop Twp., Huron County, Ontario, and died on September 6, 1918. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Dorrance, of Seaforth and was the husband of Mrs. Mae Dorrance, of Seaforth, Ontario. Pte Dorrance enlisted on May 8, 1916 at Seaforth, Ontario with D -Company of the 161st Huron Battalion and was a chauffeur by trade. He later joined the 2nd Battalion of the Canadian Machine Gun Corps. He is buried at Faubourg-d' Amiens Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. He was 30 years old. Edgar, Pte. Thomas Edgar - was born on December 4, 1895 in Cumberland, England and died on January 11, 1916. He was the son of Robert and Martha Edgar, of Seaforth, Ontario and was an iron worker by trade. He enlisted on the Niagara Campus on May 31, 1915. Pte. Edgar joined the 15th Battalion with the Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment). He is buried at La Plus Douve Farm Cemetery, Belgium. He was 20 years old. Lieu. Clarence Scott Garden - died on June 2, 1918. He was the son of George Frederick Scott Garden and Clarissa Hays Garden of Toronto, Ontario. He joined the No. 4 Training Deport Station with the Royal Air Force. Lieu. Garden was killed in an airplane mishap at Hooton Hall, Little Sutton, Cheshire, England. Before enlist- ing he was a member of the staff of the Canadian bank of Commerce in Toronto for eight years. He trained for the air serv- ice in Toronto, Texas, and Deseronto, and left for England in February, 1918. He is buried at Eastham (St. Mary) Churchyard, Cheshire, United Kingdom. He was 26 years old. Pte. Thomas Edward Govenlock - was born on May 5, 1892 in McKillop Twp., Huron County, Ontario and died on September 30, 1916. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Govenlock of Seaforth, Ontario, and was a teacher by trade. He enlisted at Montreal, Quebec, on October 20, 1915 in the 4th Universities Company, PPCLI and went over- seas in November. He joined the Signal Section of the 21st Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment) in France the latter part of August 1916, on the Somme front. Not long after, while off duty, .he was instantly killed by a stray shell. He is buried at Ovillers Military Cemetery (Courcelette), Somme, France. Pte. Govenlock was 24 years old. Wiliam H. Hall - information is unknown Cpl. William Hart - was born on November 17, 1878 at Govan, Scotland and died on September 23, 1918. He was married to Mrs. Jane Hart, Egmondville, Ontario and was a labourer by trade. He is buried at Sunken Road Cemetery, Boisleux-St. Marc, Pas de Calais, France. He was 39 years old. Lance Corporal James Scott Hays - was born on October 3, 1889 at Seaforth, Ontario and died on June 4, 1916. He was the son of Thomas E. Hays, of Seaforth, Ontario, and the late Elsie Hays an wag an - accountant by trade. Lance Cpl. Hays was commissioned on August 9, 1915 at Regina, Saskatchewan. He later became a part of the Canadian Infantry (Eastern Ontario Regiment). He has no known grave and is among the over 55,000 names on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres (Ieper), Belgium. He was 26 years old. W. Stanley Hays - died on March 3, 1918 and 'was the son of Stanley and Mary Hays of Seaforth, Ontario. He was an air mechanic 2nd Class with the Royal Flying Corps, Great Britain. He is buried in the Seaforth (Maitland Bank) Cemetery, Seaforth, Ontario, Canada Lieu. James Ambrose Horan - was Lest We Forget Sunday, November 11, 2007 born on December 7, 1880 at Seaforth, Ontario and died on October 25, 1916. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Horan, of Seaforth, Ontario and was the husband of Gertrude Catherine McMurdie Horan, of Kenora, Ontario. He belonged to the 34th Overseas Battalion and had previous military service with the 38th Regiment as Lieutenant. Lieu. Horan enlisted for the Great War on January 15, 1916 at Dryden, Ontario and joined the 46th Battalion with the Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment). He was missing in action and presumed dead. His name can be found on the Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. He was 34 years old. Pte. James Johnston Hutchinson - was born on December 11, 1883 in Milford County Armagh, Armagh, Ireland and died on August 24, 1916. He was the son of Thomas and Annie Hutchinson, of Milford, Armagh, Ireland and was a jani- tor by trade. He enlist- ed at Halifax, Nova Scotia on August 25, 1915 and had former military service with the 33rd Huron Battalion. Pte. Hutchinson later' joined B -Company of the Royal Canadian • Regiment. He is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium. He was 35 years old. Pte. James Jamieson was born on September 19, 1889 at Seaforth, Ontario and died on October 26, 1917. He was the son of William and Mary Jamieson, of Londesborough, Ontario and was a farmer by trade. He enlisted on March 1, 1916 at Camrose, Alberta and had previ- ous military service with the 101st Fusiliers Edmonton in 1912. Pte. Jamieson later joined the 50th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment). He is buried at Nine Elms British Cemetery, Belgium. He was 28 years old. Lt. Arthur Smith McLean - was born on April 29, 1881 at Seaforth, Ontario an died on August 15, 1917. He was the son of Murdo Young McLean and Jenny Smith McLean of Seaforth, Ontario and was a Dominion Land Agent at Grande Prairie, Alberta. Arthur McLean was appointed a lieutenant in the 33rd battalion, CEF in August, 1915. He was transferred to the 13th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment). Lt. McLean served in France and was wounded September, 1916. He died of wounds received at Hill 70, Lens, on August 15, 1917. He is buried at Noeux-les-Mines Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. He was 36 years old. Private John Edmund McLeod - was born on January 5, 1896 in McKillop Township, Huron County, and died August 9, 1918.
