Mitchell goalie Tanner Knechtel is without his stick as the play develops, but he recovered in time to prevent a goal. Seaforth lost a 5-2 decision, with goals scored by Justin Beuerman and Scott Chisholm. St. Anne's places fifth out of 50 schools at WOSSAA From Page 14 and Fernandes was 29th. Seaforth's Travis Jansen, who finished 34th at WOSSAA, will be attending OFSAA as an alternate. He will compete only if a teammate is unable to due to ill- ness or injury. Taylor VanAaken, Grant Sparling, Brendan Boven, Alex Melady and Marshall Durnin also ran with the St. Anne's midget boys' squad, but did not qualify for OFSAA. However, they may be making the trip to Niagara Falls to support their teammates. Based on preliminary rankings, Robinson said the local midget runners could be ranked as high as fourth or fifth in the province. "I'd say we have a good chance to go for a medal, but so much changes due to the inexperience of the Grade 9 rtuiners," he said. "It's hard to say how we'll do... I guess that's why we have to run the race." St. Anne's sent a total of 45 runners to WOSSAA on Oct. 25 in London. The local school finished fifth overall, out of 50 par- ticipating schools. And while the midget boys was the only team to qualify for OFSAA, the day was a successful one, Robinson said. "Considering the depth and qual- ity of competition at WOSSAA finishing fifth overall as a school is definitely an accomplishment and we're pleased with that," he added. The top two WOSSAA teams in each division and the top three run- ners not on those teams qualify for provincials. Unlike other sports, schools are not divided into `A' divisions based on their size. Additional St. Anne's runners fin- ishing in the top 30 include: Shauna Regier (ninth), Alex Garriock (11th), Michael Hogan (24th), Anna Lambert (25th), Julia Huber (27th) and Dean Reynolds (30th).
