County council took time out to
salute a few of its own Wednesday at
the October session in Goderich.
With the help of Ambulance -

with Exemplary Service medals at a
gala celebration in Toronto.
Lew noted the honourees received

cancer," he said. "Hopefully it'll be
gone in a few months. I just want to
make sure that people like Chelsea,
in the future, don't have to have a
cure. I just don't want them to have
it whatsoever."
St. James School more than tripled
the amount of money they raised
this year over last year, rising from
$471.70 to $1,580.
She said this is an all-time high
since the school started doing the
walk in 2000.
Since 'then, St. James School has
raised $6,283.45.
"It was just a remarkable achieve-
ment," said Lombardi, "especially,
and I really think this needs to be
noted, since Seaforth had its own
Terry Fox run back on Sept. 16."
She said she's particularly
impressed by how the community
had already had an opportunity to
raise money for cancer research but
"still dug deep into their pockets" for
the fundraising event last Friday.
"Hats off to my parents and their
kids because they really got behind
it," she said.
She also commended the teachers
for making sure the students were
well-informed and educated about
Terry Fox's story.

Defibs en route
Coun. Max Demaray learned a defib-
rillator will soon be arriving at his com-
munity's arena after making an inquiry
during the councillor's issues portion of
the meeting.
Paramedic Todd Martin reports EMS
staff are in the process of training munic-
ipal -level staff on how to use the 16 life-
saving machines Doming to the county.
"It's not as easy as putting them on
the wall on how to properly train
staff," he says, adding training will
ideally be completed by the New Year.
Council also learned the county will
be applying for a second round of
funding for defibrillators since all are-
nas were not approved for funding in
the first round.
Statistics show when a defibrillator
