protect our most valuable
resource, which is clean
drinking water," chairman
Larry Brown said.
"We need to invest in the
most important piece of
infrastructure we have for
human health - drinking
water."
Brown, a long-time
Parkhill -area resident, is a
registered professional
engineer and a member of
the Association of
Municipal Administrators

Liaisons from the health sector and
the Ministry of the Environment have
not been named yet.
Receiving at least double the num-
ber of applications required to fill
the 15 positions, project manager
Cathie Brown said the selection
process was difficult.
"Not only did we pick great indi-
viduals to serve on the committee,
but we had to leave out some very
qualified people, who we hope will
chose to be involved in future work-
ing groups," she explained.
"There's a wealth of knowledge out
there and we're trying to tap into
that."
Mark Beaven, Maitland Valley
Source Protection Authority chair-
man, said the committee was one "to
be proud of."
"We'll have a lot of strong voices at
the table to speak for different sec-
tors and interests and I think we'll
have a better plan in the end
because of that," Brown added.
"It's a road map to a better future."
Brown said the committee plans to
meet once a month, but may need to
hold biweekly meetings in the begin-
ning. The first meeting is tentatively
set for Oct. 25.
Meetings of the committee are
open to the public. For more infor-
mation and notification of future
