The names were posted on a wall in the school. Principal Joanne Lombardi said something she thought "was really notable is the fact that we collected many names." Lombardi hasn't had the chance to count them, but she said many names went on the dedication wall. "While that's very heartwarming, it's also humbling to think that so many people are affected by cancer," she said. She sees this as being as much about raising awareness about can- cer as about raising the money. - This is the first time St. James has had a dedication wall. "When we sent home a letter, which was really just an invitation for the children to participate and contribute, we indicated that if they wanted to think about somebody in their family who had been affected by cancer, that we'd be happy to take their name and hang it on a wall and we'd run with those people in mind." She said this helped the students make a personal connection with what the Terry Fox Run is all about. Tyler Primeau, 12, was one of the students walking in memory of a family member. His grandfather, Doug Westecott, died of cancer six years ago this December. "When I was little, he was one of the people I looked up to," said the Grade 7 student. Jake McClure, another 12 -year-old Grade 7 student, dedicated his walk to Josie Nigh and Muriel McClure. Nigh and McClure were Jake's grandmothers. "They both died of cancer," he said. "One was my great grandfather Jim Craig," he said. "He died about two years ago on my birth- day."» Dobson remembers visit- ing Craig. "He always seemed to be happy when we came to the pool. We'd walk on the deck and he'd look at us and just sort of break into a smile." He also dedicated his walk to his cousin Chelsea Kochany, 17, of Stratford. "It's a curable type of See ST.
