Steven Haney competes in national plowing match

It feels
in Winthrop but it is the middle of
September - where does the time go!
The title of Rev. John's sermon at
Cavan United Church was "The Boy
Who Grew Into His Coat." Greeters
and collectors were Gordon and Irma
Pryce.
The sacrament of baptism was
administered to Brandon Joseph
Dalton, infant son of Geoffrey and
Michele Dalton. Gordon Pryce was
acting clerk of session for this event.
Sunday School is back in session so
any children in the area are welcome
to attend.
After the service,
coffee and cookies
were served.
Following this several adults and chil-
dren travelled to a bike and walking
trail near Auburn where 24 bikers
took to the trail and biked for 13 km.
Eight adults also acted as spotters at
crossroads etc.
After this event they returned to
the church for hot dogs, baked
beans and sundaes. A good time
was had by all
The Campbell bunch got together
again at the home of Diane and Jeff
Howson and family. A birthday and

anniversary were
being celebrated.
Don and Maja
Dodds attended the Lambton County
Plowing Match on Sept. 1. From there
they travelled through Michigan to
Sault Ste. Marie. When crossing the
Straits of Mackinac, wind warnings
were posted and vehicles pulling trail-
ers were escorted across the bridge.
They also took the Agawa Canyon
train tour. From the "Soo" they head-
ed to Thunder Bay to attend the
Canadian Plowing Competition.
Steven Haney, son of Matt and
Elaine of Seaforth area plowed in the
Junior Competition and finished third
overall. He also plowed in the State
River Plowing Match which was held
in conjunction with the Canadian
Competition.
Attending the banquet and awards
presentation from Seaforth area were
Steven Haney, Matt and Elaine
Haney, George Townsend, Ken
Campbell, Randy Wilson and Don and
Maja Dodds.
While at Thunder Bay, Don and
Maja visited an Amethyst Mine, The
Terry Fox Monument and Kakabeka
Falls.

Margaret Flannery who died at Seaforth
Community Hospital on Sept. 7. Heartfelt sympa-
thy to her sisters, Carol (Ken) Ryan of Mitchell; to
Mary Flannery of Stratford and
to all other members of the fami-
ly. Mass of the Christian Burial
was held at St. James Roman
Catholic Church, Seaforth, on
Sept. 11 with Fr. Chris Gillespie
officiating.

Graduation
Dr. Brent D. Hulley, DC
Brent graduated on August 16, 2007 from National
University of Health Sciences, Lombard, Illinois,
with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. He graduat-
ed with Scholastic Honours, Summa Cum Laude.
Previously, on August 13, 2005, he received a
Bachelor ofScience-Degreein Human Biology.
Brent graduated from University of Waterloo, on
June 14, 2002 with a Degree of Bachelor of Science:
Honours Pre-Optometry/Pre-Health and Biology
Minor.
He attended Seaforth District High School, gradu-
ating with an OAC diploma in September 1997;
and his OSSD in September 1996. He had gradu-
ated from Huron Centennial Public School in June
1992.
Brent is currently employed at National
University of Health Sciences as an Associate
Professor in the Anatomy Department.
