Everyone dined on hamburgers, hotdogs and salads with ice-cream or watermelon, or both for dessert. Volunteer Bill Gibson provided dinner music on the keyboard with the perfect volume to allow for visiting as well. Auxiliary Volunteers, Lillian Beer, Betty Simmons and Edna Deitz assisted with serving and Klaas Van Wieren presided over the barbecue. With the selec- tion of toppings available some tettt IIo►tttm• residents just gave up and said, "I'll have them all." Shirley Luther of the Salvation Army led worship for res- idents Tuesday afternoon with her husband Eric as volunteer pianist. Volunteer Kay Mock assisted resi- dents. The Lakeview Mennonite Choir sang throughout the hallways at Queensway Tuesday evening to the great enjoyment of the residents. The singers finished their pro- gram with refreshments and visits in the retirement residence lounge. Euchre players gathered Wednesday afternoon for a compet- itive hour or so of play. Family members would be welcome to plan a visit to join us for euchre as we're always looking for a few more play- ers. Baking group produced some delicious oatmeal cookies at their Thursday afternoon group. The cookies will be frozen for sale at the upcoming bake sale for a breast cancer fundraiser Oct. 5. Friday morning, resident council met to preview upcoming events and finalize plans for some of the special events such as Pastor Elly - Van Bergen's farewell party. We hope to have family and friends join us as we bid farewell to Pastor Elly after her six years of service at Queensway. Summer weather cooperates nicely for barbecue days It is hard to believe that the summer is almost gone and the fall season is upon us. The weather sure has been beautiful. Residents were invited to go to Scrimgeours to celebrate a bar- becue birthday party and go on hay wagon rides. Everyone is looking for- ward to going again next year! Diner's Club and Dance was a great success in August with 2 Hearts and 1 Melody enter- taining us. A lot of fun was had by all.
