Huron Expositor, 2007-08-15, Page 6Page 6 The Huron Expositor • August 15, 2007 Hibbert man, 31, dies in single vehicle crash south of Dublin A 31 -year-old Hibbert man is dead after a single vehi- cle collision with a bridge abutment just south of Dublin on Saturday. A green 1997 Chevrolet pick-up truck travelling southbound on Perth Line 180 struck a bridge abut- ment and flipped upside down into the creek, reports the Perth County OPP. Vincent Ronald Gahwiler, of Dublin, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was trapped in the vehicle, which was upside down in the creek. Police responded to the call Saturday at 3:30 p.m. but determined the accident happened several hours earlier. Perth County OPP, West Perth firefighters and Perth County paramedics were at the scene to assist with the collision. OPP Traffic Collisions investigators continue to investigate all aspects of the collision to determine a cause. Seven unlocked Seaforth vehicles have wallets, money, CDs stolen Two wallets, change and a number of CDs were stolen from seven unlocked vehicles in Seaforth during the night of Aug. 7, reports the Huron OPP. Police want to remind the public to lock their vehicles since locked vehicles are rarely broken into. "Change and valuables like wallets, purses and cell phones make entering vehicles prof- itable and irresistible to prowling thieves," says Huron OPP Const. Jeff Walraven. ATV stolen from Huron East barn An all -terrain vehicle, worth $7,000, was stolen sometime overnight on Aug. 11 from a barn on Hensall Road in Huron East. The ATV was parked outside a barn on the property, which has no residence. Keys were hanging inside the barn for the ATV and were found to be missing.
