Lowe says local people went to great effort to decorate floats for the parade and tubs for the bathtub race. He adds the antique car show had so many participants that the cars overflowed into the property across the dam. Lowe says every event ran on time. "We really stressed that and everyone is to be commended for that," he says. And, he says a huge crowd turned out for the 45 -minute fire- works display. on Sunday night. "It was such a beautiful night, everyone could sit out on the grass and ooh and ahh," he says. At a downtown storefront, a Brussels historical display, cre- ated by Shelby Crawford who is working for the Huron East heritage committee for the summer, saw a steady flow of visi- tors. "People are coming mostly from town but I've seen people from as far away as Colorado or Mississauga," she says. "The best part is people are running into others they know and chatting about the old days. I'm hoping the display helps get people appreciating the history of the town," she says. Crawford created 11 pamphlets based on interviews she did with longtime residents of Brussels and their memories and she says the pamphlets were very popular. "I first printed 120 and the first batch is all gone. I had to print another 100 and they're going fast. A lot of people are collecting them as a keepsake of the weekend," she says.
