"The hospital wants us there - it
helps the staff. They are all under
such pressure and they don't often
get a thank you," says Willows.
A hug certificate is one of the

provide to patients.
"We try and leave them with a hug
coupon for the times they just want
a hug and are afraid to ask. I love
the look on the little old ladies' faces
when they realize they can use the
coupons on their young doctors.
Their whole faces just light up,"
smiles Willows.
Alliance volunteer services coordi-
nator Alla Mota says she's hoping to
convince high school students who
need to perform 40 community serv-
ice hours for their diplomas to give
care clowning a try.
"People want to make a difference
these days. You have to touch that
desire - that's key to bringing in
more volunteers," she says.
