Susan H u n d e r t m a r k
The village of Brussels will at
least triple in size during its 135th

A soapbox derby, a boot sale, a
weekend -long baseball tournament,
team cattle penning and a shirttail
parade are highlights of festivities
that finish up Sunday night with a
fireworks display at the Brussels'
community centre.
"Everything is pretty well a go -
we're just about ready. We all pull
togther in small towns," says one of
three co-chairs for the Homecoming
weekend, Wayne Lowe.
The celebration begins Friday
night with an official opening at
6:45 p.m. with a few words by the
mayors of Huron East and Morris
Turnberry.
Then, an oldtime baseball game
between Jamestown and Richie's
Rockets will begin, pitting rival
teams from 25 to 30 years ago.
