We anticipate the possibilities of our
next role -the future
From Page 19
cold that Georgian Bay water
was...FREEZING! I don't think I've
heard anyone scream louder than
that ever before...J A lot of us can
probably remember the bus rides to
the beach... " Sweet Caroline..." and
even lunch time was fun...even
more if you like to do the hula.
For a lot of us, Huron Centennial
laughter comes from looking at our
photographs from recess...looking
at them on the bus or at home and
bursting into laughter. Do you
remember that picture from Camp
Celtic when a fellow classmate had
her head between the seats...that
really made us laugh.
Recess...For a lot of us, it was
playing soccer or baseball, or just
hanging out with a group of friends
that made recess enjoyable. Maybe,
just maybe, the thing you remember
the most about recess...is watching
someone try to kick a ball...in the
mud...in crocs...and watching them
soar through the air only to fall flat
on their behind. My mom is still
trying to get the stain out of my
WHITE shirt...!
It hasn't always been fun and
games though; there have been
some serious times too. It's those
times that we feel like we've accom-
plished something. Maybe for you
it's crossing that finish line a mil-
lisecond ahead of someone in a race.
Maybe it's that mark you received
on a project you worked so hard on,
or winning the science fair, Carly
and Janelle. Maybe for you it was
singing and acting in front of an
audience...and doing your best.
Bronwyn, I really do hope you don't
REALLY scratch antique furniture.
Honk! Jr. was definitely one of
those things to be proud of. We owe
Mrs. Thorpe -Hearn a special thank
you for giving us the unique oppor-
tunity.
There are some other special peo-
ple we need to recognize too. We
need to thank the primary and
junior teachers, who have made a
strong foundation for our learn-
ing...We need to thank Mrs. Allan
for being so organized and she is
definitely the best band-aid puter-
oner... We alio need to thank the
EA's...for all of their support in the
classroom and library... and do we
not have the CLEANEST school
you've ever seen? A special thanks
to all of the custodians that make
our school one to be proud of. We
4P4
also need to thank Mrs. Gill for her
leadership. She has helped to lead
this school and should definitely be
proud of both our arts and academic
programs at H.C.S. Last but not
least...we need to thank our inter-
mediate teachers for putting up
with us all year...
Mr. Powers- You've added so much
to the music program at H.C.S and
how many other schools have a rock
band? I think I speak for all of the
students when I say that you are a
very "cool" teacher. J
Mrs. Brady- You've been a very
welcoming character that we all
respect. You've taught us so many
things and helped us to grow as peo-
ple. I'm very sure we'll never forget
your creative perspective and great
sense of humor. We would all like to
wish you the best with your mini
Brady on the way... We'll miss you
very much. Think of all the ways
we've prepared you to be a parent.J
Mr. Cassel- You've taught us to
love all kinds of music and to perse-
vere with playing an instrument.
We all enjoyed watching the phan-
tom of the opera and are actually
quoting a lot of it.
Ms. Ayers- Your colourful way of
teaching us will never be forgotten.
We're going to miss your personality
and understanding. You've definite-
ly made our math "dead easy". I
know we'll all miss you. We would
also like to thank you for being such
a generous person. What you're
doing in Zambia is a really kind
thing.
Mrs. Down- You're a- very orga-
nized person and you're all about
respect. You've taught us so much
about being a team player and you
really help out with a lot of the
extra -curricular things that happen
at our school. Thanks again. J
Mr. Killick- You have got to be the
most compassionate person I know.
You're very gifted at story telling
and we love to hear from you. You
treat us as young adults and that
really does make all of us feel truly
special. We'll never forget you.
Mrs. Catrysse- You certainly are a
multi-tasker. We all look up to you
for being able to be a vice-principal
AND a science teacher. Your person-
ality has made our science classes
entertaining and'we are going to
miss your sense of humor. Thanks
for your respect.
Mrs. Moxham- I bet all of the boys
are still lifting weights to try to
attempt to beat you in an arm wres-
tle. You're very athletic and I'm sure
we all wish we could play tug-of-war
like you. You're a very understand-
ing and funny person. We'll definite-
ly miss you.
You have all made us shine during
our time on stage and thanks again.
Grade eights...Consider tonight as
a time for change as you proceed on
to a new performance. Tonight is a
time to exit this play, and begin
another production. We anticipate
the possibilities of our next
role...our future.
What was, what is and what will
be. It's a simple phrase that almost
completely describes tonight.
The people you've known for so
long... what great people they are.
The people you know now and
have gone to school with for
months...maybe even years. What
interesting, humble, generous,
responsible, independent people
we've become.
Imagine the possibilities...what
will the people you've gone to school
with become? Many of us will go in
different directions ...even different
high schools. Years from now you
may remember... "Hey! I went to
public school with her." or "I
remember him!" I can only imagine
what some of us will grow up and
achieve. In the future it's this group
of people who will become the:
-animal activists that will make
animal cruelty a thing of the past
-the global warming activists that
will help protect our planet
-the architects that build our
homes
-the authors that will re -invent the
meaning of literature
-the nurses or future doctors that
will help us when we're in need -
and the people who help the less
fortunate.
We are the future, and as we pro-
ceed onward to our new role, I hope
that you will continue to make good
choices, and celebrate the accom-
plishments and successes you have
achieved during this performance.
Huron Centennial has definitely
been a great experience for all of us.
And with this curtain call, I would
like all of the students, teachers,
administration; parents/guardians
and family to all take a bow. You
have made this production one no
one is sure to forget anytime soon.
Thank you for your continued sup-
port.
Our lives are a lot like a
stage...there are entrances and
exits...times to be excited...times to
remember. and ...May we continue
to make our lives a memorable per-
formance.
