Seaforth Cubs attend 100th anniversary sleepover
Close to 1,000 cubs from across Southwestern Ontario celebrate at JLC in London

Seaforth's Cubs camped out in
London recently at a celebration of
the 100th anniversary of scouting in
Canada.
Participating with close to 1,000
other cubs and beavers from all over
Southwestern Ontario at the John
Labatt's Centre, the eight Seaforth
Cubs took part in
activities such as a
Mad Science show, a
snake and reptile
display, a Lego build-
ing display, a flight
simulator with the
London Model
Aircraft Club and
mini golf.
Because of fire reg-
ulations, the JLC
Beaver and Cub
Sleepover could only
accommodate 700
people on the com-
plex's floor so the
Seaforth cubs ended
up camping out in
tents at Spencer
Park.
At Spencer Park,
the cubs got to use
climbing walls and
tightrope wires built
on site.
Another highlight,
says Seaforth Cub
leader Derrick Rath,
was an hour-long
game of flags with
40 kids on each of
two teams.
"We go to as many
camps as we can every year but
we're trying our hardest to make
this a year to remember," says Rath
of the 100th anniversary of
Scouting.
The Seaforth Cubs will be also
going to a weeklong national jam-
boree near Acton in late July, anoth-
er celebration of the 100th anniver-
sary.
