"A lot of local businesses are going through expansions and there are quite a few more start- ups across the board," he said Monday. Niesen said the HBDC has over 50 loans in its portfolio now, involving 300- 400 jobs in Huron County. HBDC man- ager Paul Nichol said this is the first time in 14 years that the HBDC has no money to lend. "What do we do now? Send people away?
