Scott VandeBorne, of Egmondville, rode consistently to move into fourth in the GP Junior class, sixth in 250 junior and second in the 125 Junior. Josh Shea, of Dublin, had one of his best rides this season to get to 13th in Supermini and llth in highly competitive 80cc 12-16. Tyler Listman, of Kinburn, started the season strong has just kept right on. In Supermini and 80cc 12-16 he has only one rider ahead of him in all the province. Mitchell Godkin's performance sees the Walton -area rider in sixth in the 'big bike' group of peewee riders on 65 cc bikes for 7-11 year olds. Sports story idea? Call Susan or Aaron at 527-0240 The Huron Expositor • June 20, 2007 Page 1 S silver in provincials Carol Carter, Jo Anne Bugler, Maureen Thompson and Gloria McFalls, representing the Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club, won silver at the provincial lawn bowling championships over the weekend in Burlington. "We bowled 10 hours a day in that hot sun but the provincials are always tough - the competition was excellent," says Carter. She says insteadof winning the four straight games to win gold, the Seaforth-based team took the silver route, winning five games out of six. "It doesn't matter if you win gold or silver when you get to the nationals," she says. The team will bowl in the nationals in Montreal from Aug. 19 to 25. Nine greens in play at men's pairs' tournament The Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club held a men's Seaf wth Lawn Bowling pairs' tournament on Wednesday, June 13 sponsored by Design Concrete. Although temperatures were over 30C nine greens were in play with some very competitive bowling. The ladies of the club served a meal at noon which drew many favourable comments. First prize went to Doug Haskins of London with Bob Bester of Hanover. Close behind were Wayne Wright of Thamesford with Bob North of London. Third went to Chuck Townsend and Bob North of London; fourth to Bob Thompson of Exeter and Harry Jacobi; fifth to Lee Ryan, Seaforth and Dennis Schmidt of Goderich' sixth was Neil Beuerman and Larry Hugill of Seaforth with consolation prize to Peter McFalls and Bruce Marshall of Exeter. A good turnout was out for the season's first barbecue Friday evening with lawn bowling after. In out-of-town tournaments, Saturday, June 9, Rick and Barb Elliott won fourth prize at Lucknow in Optional Pairs. Next Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m. will be the Neil Bell Memorial Tournament at the Seaforth Greens. Exeter Legion Branch 167 is spon- soring a men's pairs tournament at Exeter Greens, Wednesday, June 20 at 10 a.m. Clinton Lawn Bowling is having a tournament on Thursday, June 21 at 10 a.m. The clubhouse has received a new facelift this year with the new roof and carpet inside. The new fence erected earlier added greatly to the appearance of the greens.
