Northside United Church youth
learn about miracles
The last few days in
Winthrop have been hot and
humid but this rain has cut
the humidity and given us
some much needed moisture.
There were no services at
Cavan United Church this
past Sunday but services will
resume next Sunday with
communion at 9:30 a.m.
The annual "Brunch in the
Park" will be held on June
24.
Bob and Ruth Campbell as
well as many members of
their family attended services
at Egmondville United where
grandson Brendan te Brinke
was one of the young people
being confirmed.
After the service, the family
went to Martin and Lisa te
Brinke's for lunch. Beatrice
Campbell also attended both
events.
Visiting with Beatrice
Campbell on the weekend
was Betty MacLean of Lions
Head and formerly of
Egmondville.
A good number from
Cavan attended the
service at Northside
United Church where
the children and youth
of Northside presented
"Miracles." A hot dog
lunch followed.
Dan and 'Monica
Glanville and family of
London visited with
Ken and Betty
Glanville and also
attended the Northside
service.
Joan and Brookes
Prewitt of Niagara -on -
the -Lake visited recent-
ly with Don and Maja
Dodds and Paul.

"I was in the Royal

transferred into the Royal Air

Phillips says Seaforth was
originally a regimental town,
with the 33rd Regiment here
before the First World War,
followed by the 161st, and the
•
Huron Regiment between the
world wars. Phillips says the
Huron Regiment amalgamat-
ed with Middlesex to form
the Huron -Middlesex
Regiment in about 1939.
Phillips says that of the 50
regular members of the
Seaforth Legion, only about
eight to ten of them are able
to leave their houses these
days.
"The average veteran is well
over 80 years old," he says.
