But, food bank chair Ken Papple says he's not sure what economic forces are driving the increased demand. "It may be the unusual weather this spring. Mark Beaven will be getting a new hair cut this sum- mer, but it will be a little shorter than usual. Beaven had his head shaved last week, all in support of Childcan, a charitable organization that works with the Oncology Department at the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario in London. "A young friend of mine chal- lenged me to help her in her fundraising efforts for this worth- while cause, so I thought if a 16 - year -old high school girl is willing to go with the `bald' look to raise money, I should be able to as well," said Beaven. Van Miltenburg has raised close to $2,000 recently and had her head shaved on Tuesday, June 5 at St. Anne's Secondary School in Clinton. Knowing that Mark is always up for a little fun, I figured I would get his help as well." Beaven, whose head was shorn in downtown Brussels on the evening of June 29 outside of Cinnamon Jim's, has just started his fundrais- ing efforts. "We plan on having a little fun with this," said Beaven. "So far everyone has been quite supportive of the effort, and is enjoying seeing me sporting the Kojak look."
