Harvey Smith, Ivan Norris, Don Finkbeiner, Harold Mills and Devon Martene played a won- derful variety of music for their very appreciative crowd. Resident council met Friday morning to complete final yard sale plans. They are also looking forward to an upcoming "Emergency Preparedness Information" night on Monday, June 4 at 7 p.m. Joanna Pickering of the Municipality of Bluewater and Hubert Thiel and the scouts will be assisting with the presenta- tion. Everyone is encouraged to come out for an informative evening, draws and refresh- ments. Queensway residents and staff bid a sad farewell to Joanne Masse a co-worker and friend who died suddenly May 17. Pastor Elly Van Bergen led the memorial service for Joanne Friday May 25. Rain spoils tree quiz participation Rev. John's sermon at Cavan United Church on Sunday was titled "Becoming Who You Are." This was Pentecost Sunday. Greeters and col- lectors were Ruth and Doug Campbell. After the church service the congregation was invit- ed to Gordon and Irma Pryce's for a social time. This was the Sunday School's last get-together until September. No fish were caught. Jim Rapson and Gord Pryce barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone. The kids enjoyed rafting on the pond. Gordon had put together a tree identi- fication quiz, but because of the rain didn't get many GIRIZEIM participants. There will be no service at Cavan on June 3 as the con- gregation is invited to attend the service at Northside when the chil- dren and youth will present "Miracles." All are welcome. Communion services will be held at both churches on June 10. Don and Maja Dodds attended Confirmation Services at Exeter United Church when grandson Brent Godkin was one of 12 young people being con- firmed. Despite the clouds and sprin- kling of rain early in the day residents were pleased to see customers lined up for hamburg- ers, hotdogs, donuts, coffee and pop. Bargains were also to be found at the tables of yard sale items where volunteers and residents did a brisk business. Volunteers Klaas Van Wieren and Glenn Gascho barbecued and Francis Kinsman, Merle McLellan, Natasha Buckley and Bill Coleman helped. Funds raised go to residents' council.
