Last Thursday's high
temperatures and air
quality warning extended
Seaforth Public School's
annual track and field
meet into a two-day event
last week, with races held
Friday when temperatures
dropped.
In the senior boys'
events, Luke Harrison
came first overall, coming
first in the 100 -metre run,
200 -metre run, 400 -metre
run, triple jump and high
jump.
Other first place finish-
ers in the senior boys'
events included Brodie
Cairns, who came second
overall and first in the
long jump, Jordan Currie,
who came third overall
and first in the 800 -metre
run and shot put and
Devin Simpson who came
first in the softball throw.
In the seniors girls'
events, Katie Arts came
first overall, winning the
high jump event.
Other winners included
Andrea Rowntree, who
came second overall and
first in the 100 -metre run,
200 -metre run, 400 -metre
run and triple jump,
Nicole McIntosh, who
came third overall and
first in the 800 -metre run,
Brianna Cooper, who came
first in the shot put, Sky
Hendrickson, who Came
first in the high jump and
Stacy McLachlan, who
came first in the softball
throw.
In the intermediate
boys' events, Riley Ward
came first overall, coming
first in 100 -metre run,
200 -metre run, shot put,
long jump, triple jump,
high jump and softball
throw.
Paul Doig came first in
the 400 -metre and 800 -
metre runs in the interme-
diate boys' category.
In the intermediate
girls' events, Lexi Cook
came first overall, winning
the 200 -metre run, 400 -
metre run, 800 -metre run,
shot put, long jump, triple
jump and high jump.
Other winners in inter-
mediate girls included
Brianne Higenell, who
came second overall and
first in the softball throw
and Sarah Dolmage, who
came third overall and
first in the 100 -metre race.

CHSS athletes
move on to OFSAA
CHSS students Zach Steenstra, Nicole Elliott and
Erik Hausen will be competing against some of the
region's best track and field athletes this week.
All three athletes qualified for the Ontario Federation
of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) regionals dur-
ing last week's Western Ontario Secondary School
Athletic Association (WOSSAA) championships in
London.
Coach Cindy Carter reported an impressive showing
by the school's 22 athletes, noting many recorded per-
sonal bests in their events.
Steenstra placed fifth in high jump. In the junior divi-
sion Elliot finished fourth in the junior 100 -metre and
Hausen was fifth in 300 -metre hurdles.
OFSAA regionals will be held June 1-2 in Windsor.
Additional top 10 results were as follows:
Colin Bokhout (midget) — seventh in high jump
Matt Fisher (senior) — sixth in 400 -metre hurdles
Ryan Grozier (senior) — sixth in 400 -metre
Rachel Robinet (midget) - seventh in shot put
The midget girls 4x100 relay team — consisting of Emily
Lansink, Alison Rowntree, Elliott and Robinet — fin-
ished eighth.
