The $517,000 project, of which the province was asked to fund half, aimed to develop and promote walking and electric cart trails for active seniors from Bridges to Seaforth's downtown and the Seaforth hospital, cre- ate a wireless network in the Walton-Seaforth- Brussels area to provide high speed Internet access, promote and deliver "Discover Huron East" promotional weekends aimed at seniors, conduct a mar- ket study on seniors' and visitor services and advertise active afford- able seniors' living in eastern Huron County. As well, the project would have developed and published maps and site descriptions for five driving tours throughout Huron County, publish archived material about a n t n c h s r d t e d t t notable local properties, contract a part-time events coordinator and redesign the Heritage Cultural Partnership web- site for easier browsing by seniors. "A lot of these things we can do ourselves and I think we'll get them all done eventually but we can't get them done as fast without help," says Laviolette. "This project would have brought us to a whole new level of awareness and complements a whole bunch of things already happening. So many things hinged on tkis money," he says.
