Huron -Bruce Liberals roll out
red carpet for Stephane Dion

Huron -Bruce Liberal party
members rolled out the wel-
come mat for Liberal leader
Stephane Dion Saturday
morning at Blyth Memorial
Hall.
Dion, who came out to
enjoy a community -style
breakfast with dozens of
Liberal party members and
community leaders, including
Huron East Mayor Joe Seili
and North Huron Reeve Neil
Vincent, spent more than an
hour meeting and greeting
party supporters.
One of the supporters on
hand was Dr. Maarten
Bokhout, who recently vied
for the Huron -Bruce Liberal
nomination against outgoing
MP Paul Steckle's executive
assistant, Greg McClinchey.
McClinchey, who proved to
be the nominee of choice,
gave Dion the guided tour.
The warm welcome and
guided tour impressed Dion.
When asked about
McClinchey's strengths, Dion
noted he is impressed by his
analytical mind for "policy."
After Saturday's event, Dion
says he is also moved by the
amount of support
McClinchey has in the com-
munity.
"He is loved by his people
and his community," says
Dion, adding filling the shoes
of Steckle, who supported
Dion in his federal -level lead-
ership bid, is "quite demand- ing the Liberal's push for more environment
ing."
Dion outlined some party platforms includ- friendly policies, before heading off for an
engagement in Toronto.

St. Anne's to use more consistent logo
Over the next few years,
the helter-skelter nature of
athletic team logos at St.
Anne's Catholic Secondary
School in Clinton will gradu-
ally disappear, as the school
phases in its brand new
"Eagles" symbol.
In the 11 years since the
school opened, according to
principal Chris Roehrig, "dif-
ferent teams developed differ-
ent logos — some with a large
eagle; some with just an eagle
head ... so what we've been
trying to do is move towards
one athletic logo."
The process began with the
school's application for an
Education Ministry grant
under the "Reaching Out" ini-
tiative.
St. Anne's received $3,000
to be put towards upgrading
its website to make it a more
effective tool for communica-
tion with parents and the
community. A company called
Dataquest was hired to do the
work.
A consistent logo has been
in use since the school opened
for everything of an academic
nature.
Dataquest recommended a
consistent athletic "brand" to
be used both on the website
and in the school, and was
subsequently asked to design
the new logo.
A stylized eagle head (not
too far removed from the logo
of the National Hockey
League's Atlanta Thrashers),
it can be viewed on the
school's new website.
According to Roehrig, it's
not practical to replace all
team uniforms immediately.
So, as the need to replace uni-
forms arises, the new logo
will come into use for that
team.
