Two Winthrop houses
undergo renovations
Sunday morning in
Winthrop dawned
rather chilly with a
touch of frost on the ground, but it
warmed up nicely.
Rev. John's sermon at Cavan United
Church for Mother's Day was titled
"Our Religious Roots." Greeters and col-
lectors were Gordon and Irma Pryce.
Special music was provided by
Lindsay and Don Sills accompanied by
Cheryl Ann St. Onge. They presented
two numbers: The Lord's Prayer" and
"How Great Thou Art."
Don't forget Cavan's perennial plant
and bake sale next Saturday, May 19, 9
a.m. to noon at Northside's front park-
ing lot.
Ron and Darlene Campbell of
London, took Beatrice Campbell out for
lunch on Mother's Day. Our family took
us out for brunch at the golf course.
On Saturday, I travelled to
Fordwich to attend a tea for a former
neighbour of mine who was celebrat-
ing her 85th birthday. She is in good
health and enjoyed immensely the

bours who visited.
Jean Sothern is the
writer of "Fordwich
News" for the Listowel Banner, a job
she has done for close to 50 years.
On a recent trip to Meaford, May 7,
while travelling through the Beaver
Valley area, I noticed small patches of
snow on the ski slopes.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to the family of Bob Hulley
who passed away on Sunday. Bob and
his family lived on Winthrop Road for
many years before he and Marg
retired in Seaforth.
Lisa to Brinke, of Clinton, and Bob
and Ruth Campbell visited Beatrice
Campbell on Saturday evening.
There is a lot of activity in the south
end of Winthrop - two houses are
undergoing extensive renovations and
two other houses have recently been
sold.
