The win was the fastest trotting mile in the history of the half -mile oval. Driver Ray McLean Jr used Runway's usual off -the -pace closing kick to fly past the rest of the field in a 28.4/5 final quarter mile. The duo cruised home to a six and a quarter - length victory in 1:56.4/5. Surfing Angus and driver Brad Forward was second and Railroad Ron, driven by Ross Battin of Monkton, was third. T h e clocking erased the former track record of 1:57.2, which was previ- ously shared by W i n d s o n g Braveheart, Homestead Dreamer and Will Sikes. It was just the second win of 2007 for Runway. who bolstered his season's earnings to $43, 562 and lifetime bankroll to $216,406. By 7bm Williscraft Sports story idea?
