We didn't know and that bothered me. After being bothered for a couple weeks, I called the Mitchell vet- erinary office to find out. They didn't know and directed me to the township. Huron East Clerk -Administrator Jack McLachlan said what you do depends on what kind of road you find the animal on. If it's on a township road, call the municipality. If it's on a county road, call the county's highway depart- ment. And if it's on a provincial highway, call the province. They'll come and dispose of the dog. If it has tags, they'll contact the owner. If not, they'll bury it. Without tags, they don't have any other way to find the owner. Now that I know, I can't say I'm satisfied. ele=11011120= Don't give our money to developers, says Seaforth woman To the Editor, I have read with inter- est or should I say dis- tress the news article indicating that the town of Seaforth is giving money away to the new subdivision formerly known as the Seaforth Public School to pave their streets. I would like to ques- tion who made such a decision, and why this subdivision. I don't recall Jack McLlwain, Marlen Vincent or Seaforth Glen Subdivision (north of town) or any other sub- division owner receiving money when they built their subdivisions. I can't even get my lit- tle street paved! I have lived on Ord Street since November, 1978 and once in all that time they put ground tar from the main intersection on it. I would spend each spring cleaning off the tar from my yard and also watch my neighbors do the same. Why is council willing to pay for roads for peo- ple who might not even be from Seaforth, when many roads in Seaforth, where people who have lived in Seaforth and have paid taxes in Seaforth are in poor con- dition. When you inquire at the town hall they indicate that no "that one" is not in this year's budget. The developer them- selves don't come from Seaforth, but you are willing to give our money to them! At present since there is a new duplex to the south of me, they have ripped up my street and left it all winter as loose gravel. It does not take much imagination to wonder where the snow- plow left all that loose gravel! I also would like to know if there has been an environmental study done for the new subdi- vision at the former pub- lic school as I am sure you will remember that a "few" years ago there was a gas station on that property and I don't recall the fuel tanks ever being removed. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that any land previously used as a gas station or for any other "hazardous use," required an envi- ronmental study to be done especially if it was going to now be used for residential. I would like to know who will be paying for this environmental study to be done. Certainly not me! I am sick and tired of paying for other people's conveniences. Don't get me wrong - I'm not against building new houses and provid- ing new homes, but I am not building a subdivi- sion, so I sure as heck am not paying for any part of it!
