on the winning marker.
Kyle Verberne carried the club to
a 3-2 win in Game 4 last
Wednesday, scoring twice and
assisting on the winner by defence -
man Dan Graul with 3:10 left in
regulation time, giving the Hawks a
3-1 series lead heading home for
Friday the 13th.
Delhi . had the better opportuni-
ties, but didn't get the breaks, and
then the tables were turned Friday
when the Hawks - after building a
2-0 first period lead - deserved a
better fate, only to see Delhi's
Andrew Ferguson scoring 6:20 into
double -overtime to pull out a 3-2
win and force Game 6.
Mitchell had the better scoring
chances in this game, but missed
chances early - and late - hurt them
in the end, as Kyle Verberne, Travis
Watson, Ryan Baetz late in the first
overtime and Dave Verberne were
turned aside by either Davidson or
the post.
In Game 6, Delhi's captain Jamie
Clarke scored 1:17 into the game,
giving the Travellers some early
momentum. Baetz's power play goal
- a power play shot from the left
face-off circle - ricocheted past
Davidson, squaring the game but
early in the second Delhi regained
their lead and the momentum with
a power play effort of their own.
Which set the stage for the third
period.
Raycraft, who hadn't scored since
Game 5 of the Thamesford Yeck
Conference final, picked up a loose
puck at the side of Davidson and
batted it home with 8:30 left in the
third period, the team's second
power play marker of the contest
and the equalizer.
Mitchell outshot Delhi 14-8 in the
third, and was taking the play to
their hosts after the tying goal.
The trend continued in overtime,
when Dave Verberne scored his first
game -winning goal of the post -sea -

the biggest test of the Hawks the
entire post -season, as they opened
with nine straight wins.
Dave Verberne, who's played the
majority of his tenure with the club
at centre, was moved off the big
line, and forcing some line juggling
all the way through the lineup. The
moves paid off, and when Elligsen
returned for the league final, the
overall depth showed true once
again.
After a 5-2 loss in Game 3 April 8
