Susan Hundertmark
Maybe it's
because he grew
up listening to
Johnny Cash's
music.
Or, maybe it's
because he
shares the same
birthday - though
he's 10 years
younger - with
the "man in
black."
But, Bill
Cayley, who stars
in the Legend in
Black show that
pays tribute to
the music of
Johnny Cash,
takes the respon-
sibility of "carry-
ing that mantle"
very seriously.
"He was a good
man, a gracious
man and we're
trying to do this
show with the
utmost respect,"
he says.
The Legend in
Black, which per-
formed for more
than 450 people
at the Seaforth
arena Saturday
night, involves
Cayley, whose
deep voice allows
him to hit the
same low notes
as Cash, Jodi
Addeley as June
Carter Cash and
three back-up
musicians as
Cash's Tennessee
Trio.
Cayley, who
worked as
Ronnie Hawkins'
road manager for
years during the
1980s, says he
had the opportu-
nity to meet Cash
through Hawkins
