Spring flowers poking their heads
through the earth in Winthrop
The spring flowers are poking
their heads through the earth, the
crocus are in brilliant colours in
warm spots and the temperature is
comfortable, but I hear snow is in
the forecast.
The Lenten presentation at
Cavan United Church was given by
Carol McClure and since it was
Palm Sunday, palm branches were
strewn in the aisles in the church.
Rev. John's sermon was titled
"After the Old One Breaks."
Greeters and collectors were Larry
and Susan
Wheatley.

An interesting paper was recently
given to me - a Huron Expositor
dated August 1940. The eight pages
were twice as large as the pages
now and a yearly subscription was
$1.50. I noticed one picture in the
whole paper and it was in an ad.
Several interesting items I noted
were - a lengthy article on the war
effort; lawn bowlers from Seaforth
were in Hanover for a tournament;
and fear of an outbreak of Army
Worms.
