But, the town says that until it receives word from a provincial grant application asking for funding for the project, construction on the path will not begin. "It's going to happen one way or another with government funding or not. It's definitely something we and the town want - it's just a matter of when," says developer Bill MacLean. MacLean says the recreation centre at Bridges is now in the final engineering stages. "We'll be breaking ground as soon as we can. We've been working on the final drawings for the past six weeks," he says. By Susan Hundertmark Seaforth houseleague hockey has year-end tournament... Maplewood Manor could become new home of Seaforth FHT Susan H u n d c r t m a r k allIEMOMMID Maplewood Manor might end up being the new home of the Huron family health team (FHT) in Seaforth. Members of the municipality, the FHT board, the Huron East economic development committee and the Seaforth Community Development Trust toured through the retirement home building Friday, looking at whether or not the facility - which closes at the end of the month - could remain open both as a retirement residence and the FHT's new home. "You're homeless and we're homeless. We're not here to create any expectations but we want to create a win-win situation for us all," FHT hoard member Gwen Devereaux told the remaining eight MAplewood residents, their family and the staff. While the FHT is looking to rent space, Mayor Joe Seili said it's possible a group of private investors could be found to buy the Maplewood Manor building, which is currently up for sale. "We probably can't do this fast enough to save the current residents. If we could, it'd be a miracle. But, they'd have the first chance to come back," said Seili. Twenty-one Seaforth seniors started looking for a new home two weeks ago when Maplewood's manager announced the retirement home would be closing at the end of March. Fourteen were able to find room' at the Seaforth Manor nearby. Seili said that while the municipality and the development trust are still See FHT, Page 3
