For the first time
in many years, two
CHSS basketball
teams hit the WOS-
SAA hardwood this
week.
Central Huron's
junior and senior
boys basketball
teams travelled to
St. Mary's Catholic
High School in
Woodstock on
Tuesday for the 'A'
division Western
Ontario Secondary
School Athletic
Association (WOS-
SAA) champi-
onships.
Coach Wes
Morley said
Monday that both
teams have been
seeded No. 1 in the
'A' division.
"It should be a
good day. I think
both teams can
make it to the
finals, but after
that it might be
tough."

CHSS boys bring home silver
in WOSSAA hockey final
Despite finishing eighth in Huron -Perth
league play last month, the CHSS boys' hock-
ey team brought home WOSSAA silver
medals last week.
The Redmen fell to local rivals Stratford
Central in a "nail-biting" Western Ontario
Secondary School Athletic Association (WOS-
SAA) final in Aylmer on March 7.
"We were all over them," coach Joe Van
Bakel said of the 3-2 loss. "In the last minute
of the game we missed an empty-netter and
had a penalty shot that we couldn't capitalize
on."
Earlier in the day, CHSS won its semi-final
game against Huron Park Secondary School,
from Woodstock, with a score of 4-1.
Last week's tournament results were simi-
lar to those from the Feb. 26 Huron -Perth
championship — and WOSSAA qualifier —
where the Redmen beat St. Mike's 8-6 in the
semi-finals and lost 4-2 to Stratford Central
in the finals.
