Challenge raises $1,733 Jennifer Hubbard alEMZEINIIMED Local firefighters, hospital employ- ees and lifeguards gathered at the Vanastra Recreation Centre (VRC) for a little friendly competition last week. Four teams — the Seaforth Firefighters, Clinton Firefighters, Seaforth Hospital and VRC Lifeguards — participated in the cen- tre's fourth annual Corporate Challenge event on March 8. Raising a total of $1,733 in pledges, the teams enjoyed a variety of bub- blegum-chewing, puzzle -solving, swimming and diving games. At the end of the night, the VRC Lifeguards claimed first place brag- ging rights with 11.5 points and 866. The Seaforth Firefighters were a close second at 11 points, winning $520. In third with 9.5 points, the Seaforth Hospital staff won $347. The Clinton Firefighters finished fourth at five points. All three prizes will be donated to a local non-profit organization of choice. VRC facilities manager Lissa Berard was pleased with this year's challenge. "Everyone always has a good time," she said. "It's nice to get the service groups together in support of our local charities."
